Rub a dub dub

February 21, 2009 at 6:23 pm (Etsy, products) (, , )

I started using handmade soap a few months ago, and now that I’ve started using it I’m totally obsessed. I just hit 100 sales on Etsy today (someone bought 5 necklace from me last night – woot woot!) and I’m tempted to reward myself with some delectable handmade soap from some awesome Etsy sellers. Specifically, I’ve been eying soaps that look and sound edible – Coconut Mochi? Fig and Black Pepper? Delicious!! Here are some soaps that I’m dying to try:

Vintage bead-mania

February 9, 2009 at 2:29 pm (Etsy, jewelry, products)

So I’ve been on a tear creating new necklaces from the amazing vintage beads I’ve been amassing lately. Here are a few of my newest designs – I already sold the South Beach necklace over the weekend at the Valentine’s craft fair (which was kind of a bust, but at least it was abnormally warm out, since we ended up vending OUTSIDE! It’s February in NYC!! Geez!) I’m going to be crafting up many more designs this week, since I’ll be vending at the indoor Brooklyn Flea this Saturday in DUMBO! Yee haw!

Getting into the swing of things . . .

February 5, 2009 at 9:15 pm (Etsy, jewelry, the New New) (, , )

After a well-deserved month off after the holiday rush, I’ll be doing my first sale in 2009 this Saturday the 7th at the Secondary School for Research’s Valentine’s Craft Fair in Park Slope. There will be craft and flea market vendors (including several of my fellow New New York Etsy Street Team peeps!) and a bake sale – and hey, it’s supposed to get up to 50 degrees outside this weekend, so if you’re in the NYC area, come on by!

Dreaming of Domino’s Doublemelt

February 4, 2009 at 1:03 am (eating) (, , )

Okay, so I live in New York City, arguably home to some of the greatest pizza and pizzerias in the world, which I enjoy and appreciate often. But sometimes – like in the dead of winter, when you drag yourself home after a long day, having been sprayed with an icy slush puddle by a crazy cab driver – you just want a little comfort food. So it’s with some New Yorker embarrassment that I admit to sometimes ordering, and loving, Domino’s Pizza. Years ago, they had a special pizza that was called the Double Melt – it was a diabolical sandwich of two thin layers of pizza glued together with a creamy, cheesy ranch-like sauce, which totally combined two of my favorite things – Ranch and pizza – into one crave-able treat. Alas, the Double Melt was a short-term specialty pizza thing, so you’re just going to have to take my word for it that it was totally awesome.

Which brings me to my point – sometimes the specialty pizzas at Domino’s can totally rock, which was why I was so excited to get an email (yes, I get emails from Domino’s – don’t judge) about their new “American Legends” pizzas. I think the “Cali Chicken Bacon Ranch” pizza has my name all over it.

Did I mention they have 40% more cheese?

Sitting on the beach with a margarita . . .

February 3, 2009 at 8:02 pm (Uncategorized) (, , )

Doesn’t that sound great? Yeah, too bad I’m sitting in a snowy, slushy, frozen Manhattan, with nary a margarita in site. I have been channeling my dreams of beach vacations into my jewelry designs, however – hence, my Marseille necklace. Imagine sitting on a sea wall, sipping a glass of Cotes du Rhones, and gazing at the clear blue waters of the Mediterranean. Now that’s a vacation! :)
