Craft Fair at Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden!
This Saturday April 4th is the first day of the year that the Bohemian Beer Hall in Astoria will open their outdoor area! And what would make a more perfect Saturday than a cold beer, some delicious goulash, and an awesome craft fair! I’ll be selling my wares with other local artists from 1 to 4:00 inside the Beer Hall. Come check it out!

A mention in Time Out New York!! Hooray!
Pictures of my work are featured in this week’s Time Out New York Magazine, and on their website! Yay! Here’s the text from the online article:
For the DIYers who never leave Williamsburg
There’s more to the Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden than booze this opening weekend. Splurge on indie goods at its inaugural Spring Flea Market (29-19 24th Ave at 29th St, Astoria, Queens; 718-274-4925; 1–4pm, free), benefiting DA Sokol, a space that offers low-cost gymnastics to Queens kids. Organizer Jessica Bardy has assembled a diverse collection of artists for it, including Anne Messley, who makes stuff out of felt, and jewelry designer Felicity Stiverson (work pictured).
My Vintage Beaded Nile Necklace is featured in the print magazine, and my Marseille Necklace is featured online!

Thanks Time Out New York! Woo hoo!
Getting into the swing of things . . .
After a well-deserved month off after the holiday rush, I’ll be doing my first sale in 2009 this Saturday the 7th at the Secondary School for Research’s Valentine’s Craft Fair in Park Slope. There will be craft and flea market vendors (including several of my fellow New New York Etsy Street Team peeps!) and a bake sale – and hey, it’s supposed to get up to 50 degrees outside this weekend, so if you’re in the NYC area, come on by!
Sitting on the beach with a margarita . . .
Doesn’t that sound great? Yeah, too bad I’m sitting in a snowy, slushy, frozen Manhattan, with nary a margarita in site. I have been channeling my dreams of beach vacations into my jewelry designs, however – hence, my Marseille necklace. Imagine sitting on a sea wall, sipping a glass of Cotes du Rhones, and gazing at the clear blue waters of the Mediterranean. Now that’s a vacation!
Workin workin workin’ . . .
Been busy adding lots of new items to my Etsy site, and I just got some more amazing vintage beads that I’ve been madly crafting into new creations! Here’s the latest addition to my shop:
Finally recovered!
It’s taken a few days to recover from the wonderful madness that was the Holiday Handmade Cavalcade this past Saturday! The {New} New York Etsy Street Team can throw quite an event, as evidenced by the massive crowds and amazingly festive atmosphere at the Knitting Factory!! I sold waayyyy more than I have at any other fair, and I think that the event was a huge success for all! Now my only problem is trying to replace all of the merchandise that I sold, and updating my Etsy store with new items during the last few days of the Christmas shopping season! A good problem to have, I must say
Some pics from the event:

During the last few moments of set-up before the crowds descended!

Part of my display - slightly decimated at the end of the day!

The goody bags, which I helped stuff - they were amazing, and boy, did they go fast!
Come on baby light my Artfire . . .
Here’s the shameless self-promotion of the day – I just opened a shop on the new up-and-coming handmade goods website Artfire! My Etsy shop is still going strong, of course, but I’m excited by a lot of the new features that Artfire has, and will slowly be adding new items to my shop there! Click here to ch-ch-check it out!
The Holiday Handmade Cavalcade is coming!
In a little more than two weeks, the fabulous {New New} York Etsy Street team – of which I am a member ; ) -is setting up shop in the famous music venue The Knitting Factory and throwing the first annual Holiday Handmade Cavalcade! From our very own {New New} press release:
“A spunky newcomer to the indie shopping scene, the Holiday Handmade Cavalcade is a one day event showcasing more than 30 locally grown purveyors of handcrafted soaps, housewares, ceramics, paper goods, jewelry, accessories, clothing, and original artwork for the shopper looking to support local craft in addition to filling up their holiday stockings.”
It’s going to be an amazing event, with festive cocktails, awesome vendors, coupons given out to early-bird shoppers, and fabulous raffle giveaways!! If you’re in the NYC area and are itching to do some holiday shopping, the Holiday Handmade Cavalcade is your spot!
anybody want some eggnog?
“Holiday jewelry”. I mean, just the sound of that makes me picture my eighth grade self walking around wearing a puffy paint printed poinsettia sweatshirt with matching headband and large plastic mistletoe earrings. But I feel like now it’s kinda cool to show off a little bit of the holiday spirit – you know, the “I’m feeling a little festive, let’s light a pine scented candle and add a spash of bourbon to the egg nog” kind of holiday spirit. So here are a few pretties from my Etsy shop. In the spirit of, well, subtle holiday-spiritness. Trust me, you won’t end up looking like the crazy lady wearing the felted Christmas tree sweater.
