Only two more days til the Holiday Handmade Cavalcade . . .

Woo hoo!!!!  It’s been a frenzy of activity here, what with getting ready for the Cavalcade this Saturday and spending most of last night stuffing the super-massive goody bags that 200 lucky early RSVP-ers will be getting.  We also put together the five raffle bags, and let me tell you, I would seriously consider making extra purchases at the Cavalcade this weekend just to get more chances to win these insane prizes – the bags are stuffed with such beautiful products: full-sized soap, sterling silver jewelry, candles, beautiful notecards, beaded necklaces, and so much more.  So come and check it out this weekend at the Knitting Factory!

On a different note, while I was in the suburbs this past week, I made a pilgrimage to one of my favorite spots, the Super Taget, and came across a snack that has truly blown my mind: the Archer Farms brand Dill Pickle Cashews.  Seriously, pickle flavored nuts?  Why hasn’t anyone thought of this before?  I’m gonna try to get some pics of these beauties and put them up here so you can appreciate them in all their glory.

Sour and sweet

November 20, 2008 at 9:39 pm (eating, products) (, , )

Maybe I’m inspired by my blog’s name, or maybe by the completely strange and fascinating Pickle Soap that I featured in a previous post, but I’m all about pickles right now.  My blog name, by the way, popped into my head after my husband and I ordered BBQ for takeout the other night, and when we opened the delivery containers we realized they had forgotten to send us sweet pickles, and instead sent us a double portion of dill pickles.  Actually, they also forgot to send almost all the meat in our order, but that’s another story (beware Hill Country BBQ delivery).  Anyhow, I love all kinds of pickles, so the double order of sour pickles was definitely not a tragedy.

A quick search of Etsy for pickle products revealed a crazy plethora of items - felted pickles, clay pickles, magnet pickles, pickle photography, angry pickles.  Even real pickles!  Deeeelish.

Smells good enough . . . to shower with?

Ok, so my interest in licorice scented bath and beauty products has turned into a full-blown obsession with weirdly scented, food inspired soaps.  Here are a few more weird and wonderful soaps from my fellow Etsy sellers MollycoddleSoap, amandalouise, and DirtySanchez (who just might have some of the funniest descriptions on all of Etsy).  Oh yeah, and one more irresistable-sounding soap from Savor.  Yum!
